Outcome and Situation Analysis of “Quality Improvement for Schools in Gorkha”

With financial support from Wilde Ganzen (Netherlands), Sarathi Nepal undertook a comprehensive situation analysis as part of the "Quality Improvement for Schools in Gorkha" project. The assessment focused on schools located in Barpak, Sulikot Rural Municipality, a remote and mountainous region of Gorkha district.

Despite the challenging travel conditions — involving rugged terrain and long, often strenuous walks that children and staff must endure daily to reach their schools — the project team was able to conduct detailed on-site visits and engage closely with students, teachers, and community members. These interactions provided valuable insights into the current educational environment, infrastructural gaps, and the unique challenges faced by schools in this region.

The findings from this analysis have been instrumental in shaping targeted interventions aimed at enhancing teaching quality, student engagement, and school infrastructure. The visit not only underscored the resilience and determination of the local community but also deepened Sarathi Nepal’s commitment to fostering equitable and quality education across Nepal.

This project represents a critical step forward in empowering remote communities through education, ultimately contributing to broader social development and improved opportunities for children in Gorkha.
